3 Beaches to Set Off Your Summer
/HORSESHOE BAY BEACH, BERMUDA
Just two hours via plane from New York, Bermuda offers a multitude of beaches with turquoise water and pink sand. My favorite is the quiet coves of Horseshoe Bay, where you can wade between rocks in the water to get a slice of sun and peace. Grab a rum swizzle before you walk down the stretch of sand to this quieter side. With a good book in hand or travel partner, it's hard not to feel like you're in heaven, if heaven had pink sand.
Though the Maldives is often considered a top honeymoon destination, solo travel is a perfect opportunity to unplug, unwind and be reminded that postcard perfect beaches do exist. Part of the Maldives' charm-- besides the stunning beaches-- is the opportunity it provides to truly center yourself. You won't find bustling streets, crowded tourist attractions or even shopping. And this is just where the groove of rediscovering you, the present moment and nature can really help create a perfect beach getaway.
Trinidad carnival goers know how to truly cool down (and wine up) in Tobago after the celebrations in February end every year. I always say, go to Trinidad for the fetes and Tobago for the beaches. Nylon Pool is a perfect example of just that. This natural, crystal clear pool in the middle of the ocean sits on a sandbar that allows you to stand in it and enjoy the warm waters. There are numerous party boats that take travelers to it, meaning, you should probably prepare to have a rum punch in hand on the journey there.
